Shamelessly stealing J. Beib’s song title…
But truly, he sings, “you should go and love yourself”. Look through the eyes of your Maker; the one who knew you before you were even born. You were known, each part of you, and you were tenderly crafted into the person you are today. And not only that, you were loved. Not only were you made, but you were loved. We all see our own imperfections in the mirror, and we don’t realize that we have already been formed into the likeness of God. We worry and fret and compare ourselves to others, which leads us in the wrong direction. Someone said this to me last week: comparison is the thief of joy. And we are commanded to be joyful always. But back to the direction. Oprah says (watch the video below), “There are no mistakes…failure is just there to point you in a different direction.” It starts with our choices. I can choose to focus on the positives. I can choose to take steps to get closer to my goals. I can choose to love myself, because I am already loved, and this allows me to love others. Now imagine a world in which the dominos fell just like that.
